Mr. Ratner made additional gifts of $6 million to the University of Chicago in 2006.  At the Law School, his gift will endow the Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professorship. 

At the Art Museum, his gift will establish a memorial for his wife.

Previous gifts by him to the University began the J.E. Ratner Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Graduate School of Business in memory of his brother, a former Editor-in-Chief of "Better Homes & Gardens", and business and advertising executive, who died in 1961.
