Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professorship Awarded to Professor David A. Strauss
The Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professorship of Law at the University of Chicago Law School has been awarded to Professor David A. Strauss. This award helps the law school attract and sustain exceptional legal scholars and teachers. Professor Strauss is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College and magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. He joined the University of Chicago Law School faculty in 1985 and focuses his teaching and writing on constitutional law, federal jurisdiction, and elements of the law. In 1990 he served as special counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee in connection with the nomination of David Souter to the United States Supreme Court. Over the course of his career, Professor Strauss has argued eighteen cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and is a current editor of the Supreme Court Review.
