Gerald Ratner was a co-founder (with Benjamin Z. Gould, who died in 1986) of the present law firm of Gould & Ratner in 1949. Mr. Ratner has been actively engaged in the general practice of law since 1937, when he graduated from The University of Chicago Law School (J.D., Order of the Coif).
Mr. Ratner serves on the Firm's Management Committee. He is the recipient of awards from the University of Chicago, including the Law School's Distinguished Law Alumni Award in 1999, and the University's Medal for Distinguished Service of the Highest Order in 2005. The University's new Athletics Center is named the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center.
Mr. Ratner has been counsel for Henry Crown and Company and related Crown Family investments and enterprises for over 60 years. He has been involved in many prominent real estate transactions and developments in the Chicago metropolitan area and elsewhere from California and Arizona to New York and Florida during his long career.
Mr. Ratner's accumulated knowledge of real estate law and related property matters continues to be made available for the firm's clients.
